Columbiana JVs 6 Lowellville 0
Despite fumbles stopping 2 drives, having a long touchdown called back, and throwing Lowellville for a safety (which the refs brought back out to the one), the Little Clippers racked up 194 yards rushing on a hefty 28 carries, with the big play a Dalton Miller 38 yard TD run with 4 minutes to go in the game as the defense played a terrific game, throwing the Little Rockets for a loss in over half their plays. We were also extremely happy all our players got to play. GREAT JOB BY EVERYONE AND WAY TO END THE SEASON ON A WINNING NOTE! Offensively, Dylan Davin tallied 110 yards on 11 carries and Matt Roncone added 27 yards on 9 carries, but Dalton Miller made the most of his 4 carries for 48 yards, including the game winner. Defensively, Robbie O'Malley and Tim Davin racked the Little Rockets for one big loss after another as O'Malley finished with 5.5 tackles and Davin 5 tackles.
Lowellville Varsity 26 Columbiana 16
Despite being down 20 - 0 at halftime, the Varsity did not give up, fought back hard, and dominated the 2nd half only to come up 10 points short.
Western Reserve JVs 20 Columbiana 0
The game started out well as the defense held on the first set of downs and the offense came out firing, gaining 3 first downs in their initial possession, including 34 yards on their first 4 carries but the drive fizzled out. To start out the 3rd quarter, the offense marched downfield on 15 plays to inside the WR 15 yard line, keeping the ball the entire 3rd quarter. As luck would have it, we lost the ball on a fumble several plays into the 4th quarter. The defense did not play bad as the starters only gave up 14 points, but we elected to put all the younger kids in with a little over 5 minutes to go. Western Reserve called a timeout, then came back on the field with their starters and put up a meaningless TD on the first play. Dylan Davin starred on offense with 75 yards on 14 carries as the offense totalled 11 yards on 32 carries. On defense, Robbie O'Malley shook off an injury earlier in the week to take tackle honors with 6.5. Jonathan Downey continued his great line play with 3 tackles with matt Fay adding another 3.
Columbiana Varsity 6 Western Reserve 0
The Varsity returned the favor by eliminating WR's Varsity from the playoff, setting up the BIG SHOWDOWN next week against Lowellville. The winner of next week's game will win the #4 seed and continue to the playoffs the following week while the loser will be eliminated. In a very exciting game, WR made a very questionable decision by going on 4th down on their own 20 yard line with 3:25 to go in a 0-0 game. It proved to be a bad decision as the defense stopped them at the line of scrimmage. On the next play, Chris Durk took the ball on a double reverse and scored around the right end with a nice cut inside the corner for the winning score. The Little Blue Devils threw a scare in us at the end as they took the ball down the field on several big plays and the game ended with a Durk tackle at our own 20. Durk led the offense with 47 yards on 10 carries & completed his only pass of the day for 4 yards. QB Drew Makosky completed 1 of 2 passes for 7 yards; both completed passes went to Spencer Patrick, who is turning into a solid receiver. On defense, Durk again led the way with 10 tackles & a fumble recovery, Tyler Shaffer had his best game of the year with 6.5 tackles, Alex Schnarrenberger & Dylan Ferraro had 4 each, Makosky had 3, & Austin Saverko added 2.5.
Campbell JVs 36 Columbiana 12
Campbell scored on their first offensive play and never looked back as their speedy JVs broke big plays leading to the win. The JV offense did not stand still as they rolled up 192 yards on 37 carries with Matt Roncone scoring his first TD ever on a nice 11 run and Dylan Davin also scored from 5 yards out as 7 players ran the ball. Dalton Miller led the offense with 71 yards, followed by Roncone with 51 yards on only 7 carries, Davin with 35 yards, and 3rd grade rookie Jarrett Nemick (the QB of the future) having his biggest day with 27 yards on 7 carries. On defense, Jonathan Downey was the leader with 4 tackles, while Dalton Miller added 3.5.
Campbell Varsity 30 Columbiana 0
Chris Durk ran for 78 yards, Dylan Ferraro had 18, & Rae Erwin added 10 yards as the offense tallied 106 yards on 30 carries. Durk led the defense with 5 tackles, Jacob Osborne had 4, Ferraro 3.5, Alex Schnarrenberger 2.5, Spencer Patrick 2, and Austin Saverko, Ben Basinger, Drew Makosky all added 1.5 tackles. Makosky also had a pass interception.
Crestview JVs 30 Columbiana 0
Despite working on blocking all week at practice, the Little Rebel JVs showed why they are undefeated as the biggest JV team in the league dominated the game from the start. It also classy that the Little Rebels pulled their starters near the end of the 3rd quarter and we were both able to let our younger players have some fun. For the day, 4th graders led the defense with Matt Fay starring with 5.5 tackles. followed by Jonathan Downey with 3, and Tucker Cope with 2.5. Kyle Ferraro, Hunter Hanson, Kristy Soos, David Scyoc, Tyler Burgess, and Jarrett Nemick all had 2 tackles. Offensively, Dalton Miller had the longest run of the day of 13 yards and completed his only pass attempt to Dylan Davin for 10 yards,
Crestview Varsity 22 Columbiana 8
The Little Clippers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead on Chris Durk's 65 yard run on the 2nd play of the game but was unable keep up with a well coached Crestview squad the last 3 quarters as it seemed the defense was out on the field all day in the disappointing loss. Chris Durk ran for 110 yards on 14 carries while completing 2 of 5 passes for 15 yards, one to Spencer Patrick for 3 yards & one to Drew Cyrus for 12 yards.
Columbiana JVs 22 Sebring 0
Despite missing 2 starters & having 3 scores called back, the JVs rolled to their 2nd win in 3 games against a very determined Sebring team on a very muddy field. Dylan Davin scored on the 4th play of the game on a 56 yard run then tacked on the extra points for an early 8-0 lead. The next offensive play, a 13 yard gain, was nullified by a holding call followed by another long TD run, again brought back on a penalty. In the 2nd quarter, Davin again scored, this time on a 47 yard run but when Dalton Miller converted the extra points they were cancelled out by another penalty which ended the scoring in the 1st half and a 14-0 lead. In the 3rd quarter, Miller ran 50 yards to paydirt but the ball was brought back due to a block in the back. On the very next play he ran for another TD but, again, a penalty brought the ball back on a very bad holding call. Later in the 3rd quarter, Davin scored on a 30 yard run plus the extra points to close out the scoring and a 22-0 victory. Davin was the offensive powerhouse with 3 TDs, 2 XPTs, and 144 yards on 7 carries as the offense tallied 167 yards on 16 carries. Sixteen different players had tackles, most of which were recorded as 1/2 tackles because of the excellent gang tackling. Dylan Davin led with 6 tackles, followed by Tim Davin with 3.5, and Tucker Cope, Jonathan Downey & Jimmy Miller with 2.5. Cope continued his excellent rookie season recovering 2 fumbles as well.
Columbiana Varsity 6 Sebring 0
In one of the best, most spirited games ever, the Varsity made a 60 yard Durk to Cyrus pass in the 1st set of downs stand up in sloppy conditions as both teams' coaches and fans went wild throughout the contest. Late in the game Sebring broke a big run to the Clipper 10 yard line only to have it called back on a penalty and the defense held strong to cap the win. The Trojans defense was oustanding, holding Chris Durk to his lowest rushing of the season, 52 yards on 13 carries and the total offense to 61 yards on 32 attempts. No defensive stats.
COLUMBIANA JVs 8 Jackson-Milton JVs 0
The JVs overcame 4 fumbles and the defense turned it up a notch in an 8-0 win over a much improved JM JV team. Our 1st drive ended up 2 yards short of a 1st down on the JM 6 yard line as penalties pushed us back after a 1st down within their 10 yard line. Our second possession ended on JM's 4 yard line with a fumble. Our next 2 possessions were also halted due to lost fumbles. Finally, Dalton Miller scored on a 42 yard run early in the 4th quarter, scoring the season's first TD for the 2nd year in a row. Dylan Davin was moved to #4 back after an injury to tally the extra points. With 2+ minutes to go in the game we had the ball 1st down at JM's 25 yard line and, instead of going for the score, we pulled most all of our starters so the younger players could play. The results were the same as the week before which we won't get in to. The offensive line showed great improvement in a week's time & dominated the line of scrimmage as Crystal Stone, Jimmy Miller, Chris Martin, Jonathan Downey, Robbie O'Malley, Tucker Cope, Matt Fay, Krusty Soos, and Corey Mrofchak opened up holes in the line all day long. 23 of 24 plays went for positive yardage as Dalton Miller rolled up 115 yards on 11 carries. Dylan Davin had a great game also running for 75 yards on 11 carries. In all the starting offense racked up 196 yards on 24 carries. The defense played a great game also as roughly half the team had tackles. Jonathan Downey led the way with 3.5 tackles, followed by O'Malley with 3, Dylan Davin 3 (plus an interception), Thunderbutt Davin 2.5, Dalton Miller 2.5, Jimmy Miller 2.5, David Scyoc 2.5, Tucker Cope 2.5 (outstanding the entire game), Martin 1.5, Soos 1, and Mrofchak .5. For Jackson-Milton, Chance Proverbs had a 22 yard run and Braxton Lockner had several nice runs as well as several nice tackles. Devin Simons & Joseph Burnside led the Little Blue Jays defense in tackles.
Columbiana Varsity 16 Jackson-Milton Varsity 12
The Varsity went down by 2 TDs in the 1st quarter but roared back and dominated the second half to earn a thrilling 16-12 victory against one of the best JM Varsity teams to hit the field in years. Chris Durk tallied both TDS & XPTs ending the game with 185 yards on 17 carries as the offense racked up 213 yards on 27 attempts. Dylan Ferraro added 17 yards on 4 carries while Jacob Osborne contributed 12 yards on 4 carries. QB Drew Makosky completed his only pass attempt of the day for 8 yards. No defensive stats.
Springfield JVs 28 Columbiana JVs 0
Our JVs simply were not ready, especially against a very good Springfield team. A change of offensive coordinators 2 weeks ago did not allow enough time to fix all problems. We did fix the fumble problem as we had 0 turnovers but the offensive line did not block the right people and lined up in the wrong formations throughout the game. The blame goes to the coaching, not the kids. The defense played rather well as the score was only 12-0 2 minutes into the 4th quarter, so the final score does not reflect how close the game was. However, Springfield scored midway through the 4th quarter, then kept basically their starting defense in against our 1st year players. They then kept much of their starting offense in, just switching players to different positions, as their starting fullback was moved to QB and scored on a long run against mostly 3rd graders for the final score. Dalton Miller led the offense with several nice runs and Robbie O'Malley led the defense with 5.5 tackles while Dylan Davin had 4.5.
Springfield Varsity 30 Columbiana Varsity 12
Despite Chris Durk's 199 yards on only 11 carries, it was not enough to stop a very good Little Tiger team. The Varsity ended the day with 216 yards rushing on 22 carries with QB Drew Makosky adding 13 yards. No defensive info
